Who We Are

The Black Community Action Network of Peel (BCAN) represents a network of various organizations, professionals, residents and allies who are united in a mission to promote equity-focused systems change and community empowerment through advocacy, community organizing and development, leadership development, community education, and research. BCAN has been at the forefront of regional efforts to advance anti-racism in key sectors including education, criminal justice, child welfare, and mental health. BCAN is actively involved in advocating for equity in policing and criminal justice, building bridges between community stakeholders and Peel Regional Police.

Our Mission

To provide leadership for the development of strong community and responsive systems through community organization, mobilization, education, advocacy and civic engagement. BCAN is a network of professionals, residents, allies and agencies coming together to deal with issues related to African/Caribbean/Black population in Peel.
